Madrid on a Budget: Affordable Ways to Explore
Madrid is a city full of history and culture.
This was my first time visiting Spain and it was a fantastic adventure with lots to discover with each step.
Paid Tours
The 3 places that I would recommend getting tours from are:
For this post I used solely Viator at that time.
List of Tours
Hop on and Hop Off ($27 +)
My tip is to do the hop on and hop off bus to get the lay of the land so that way if you choose to do you own walking tour it will be easier!
Note there are 2 lines and I ended up getting a two day pass.
If you are on a budget look at the different lines and pick the one you would enjoy.
Segway Tours ($21 +)
Segway Tours have to be the most friendly and efficient way to see any city.
You are able to see a lot in a short amount of time and they do teach you how to use a Segway if you have never been on one.
The one that I booked at the time was this one. Added bonus was there was a Starbucks in the plaza we practiced in.
Three Cities in One Day: Segovia, Ávila & Toledo ($131 +)
This is a must when you do not have too much time traveling in Madrid.
If you can’t do anything else then this is the one thing you should save your money for.
To see 3 beautiful cities in one day is incredible.
Segovia
Segovia was memorable because of the amazing aqueducts that you can get up close too.
From textbooks to actually seeing them is unreal.
As you continue walking deeper into the city it swallow you up with its architecture and history.
One of the places you visit is Mirador Junto Plaza Reina Victoria Eugenia and this was a place that you won’t forget.
Avila
Avila was interesting since its a city inside a fort but I was still thinking about Segovia as I explored this city.
You get to walk around a bit and grab some lunch here so you can relax a bit before you head to the next and final city.
Toledo
Toledo was another amazing city that I wish I could have spent way more time in. As soon as you get close to the city you have to double take at the landscape.
It is something right out of a dream.
You get to walk into deep parts of the city and don’t forget to take advantage of your free time and shop around.
You will be tired but thankful that this was the tour that you did and you can go to sleep happy.
Book this one here and I promise you, you won’t be dissappointed.
Flamenco Show ($42 +, cheaper tickets are available)
This is one of the must-dos in the city. Spain is known for Flamenco shows and there is a reason why it’s very popular for tourists.
There are several ones to choose from when doing your research and if you are on a budget then I would suggest taking time to find one that is in a good area with good reviews.
At the time I went to this specific show, which has definitely gone up by price.
My Takeaways
All of these tours made Madrid an amazing experience and I know that if you are traveling with a group you want to be mindful of everyones budgets.
I would recommend doing your research for your group or even using the links I provided since I took time and did what I could to make the few days I had in Madrid a blast.
Stay tuned for another post outlining the free things and sites that were worth seeing all in close walking distance from each other.
